Ms. A Gregory (Acting Headteacher)
Litter Pollution...

There has been an increase in the level of litter on the College site. Due to this, 5 new extra litter bins have been located at key positions around the College, making a total of 20 bins. “Litter is polluting our environment; it costs money to clean, collect and remove it. Our aim is to reduce litter within the College grounds. This is to create a cleaner, safer working environment.”  quoted by a member of staff.

Effects of Litter

Litter and discarded food is attracting local wild life to the college grounds. Discarded cans left in the playing fields are being cut and shredded by the lawnmowers, leaving dangerous shards of metal lying unnoticed in the grass. The properties adjacent to the college have also noticed an increase in litter, which has blown across the sports fields.

Actions Taken

Students are not to take food out of the lunch halls or designated areas, such as the benches near the mobiles.  Litter bin numbers around the College have increased. Student litter pick as part of Social Enterprise Scheme is to collect and remove litter from the College grounds.
